Mountaineers Open 2026 Season at RMU Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team opens its 2026 season Friday, Sept. 11, at the RMU Invitational in Clinton, Pennsylvania.
The race is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Youthtowne Fields. Live results for the race will be available at WVUsports.com.
WVU enters the season ranked No. 7 nationally in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll and No.1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The Mountaineers are coming off another successful season in 2025, finishing ninth at the NCAA Championships in Columbia, Mo. WVU also captured its second consecutive Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship.
Joy Naukot led the squad throughout the championship portion of the season, earning All-America honors at the NCAA Championship.
West Virginia returns almost its entire top seven from last season, providing the Mountaineers with a strong group of returning experience heading into the new campaign.
Following Friday's season opener, WVU will compete at the John McNichols Invitational on Sept. 19 in Terre Haute, Ind.
