
Mountaineers Geared for NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 15. This year's championship race will be hosted by Penn State at the Blue and White Courses in University Park, Pennsylvania.
The women's 6k is scheduled to begin at noon ET, followed by the men's 10k at 1 p.m.

West Virginia will face off against 31 scoring teams, including No. 8 Georgetown and No. 20 Penn State.
Last time out, the Mountaineers finished in second place at the Big 12 Championships on Nov. 1 in Waco, Texas with 60 total team points. Senior Ceili McCabe clinched her third Big 12 title after boasting a personal and program record time of 19:02.6 in the women's 6k.
Freshman Joy Naukot earned All-Big 12 honors after claiming a third-place finish as the fastest freshman in program history with a time of 19:18.1. Additionally, redshirt senior Sarah Tait earned All-Big 12 accolades after claiming twelfth place with a personal best time of 19:59.3.
West Virginia checks in at No. 5 in the NCAA DI Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, after the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the rankings on Nov. 5. The Mountaineers also came in at No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings. West Virginia tops No. 2 Georgetown, No. 3 Penn State, No. 4 Princeton and No. 5 Villanova in the regional poll.
