Sabins Signs 13 for 2026

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Nov. 14, 2024) West Virginia University baseball head coach Steve Sabins has announced the addition of 13 student-athletes for the 2026 season.
 
This year's class is ranked No. 34 nationally by Perfect Game, marking the Mountaineers' eighth consecutive top-40 class.
 
Joining the program in 2026 are: Zahir Barjam (Lexington, South Carolina), Hudson Cavallo (Hopewell Junction, New York), Josiah Crider (Fulks Run, Virginia), Sean Goldy (Greenwood Village, Colorado), Ben Goodacre (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada), Tyrus Hall (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada), JT Huether (Fort Myers. Florida), Weston Mazey (Morgantown, West Virginia), Wyatt Mosley (Dansville, Michigan), David Perez (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Matthew Robaugh (Washington, Pennsylvania), Brayden Robinson (Crofton, Maryland), Weston Smith (Culloden, West Virginia)
 
"The 2025 class becomes official today!" Sabins said. "These 13 individuals have trained tirelessly to turn themselves into elite players. We couldn't be more excited about who they are and the talent they are bringing to Morgantown. Our staff works hard to make sure these young guys understand that they are signing up for an opportunity. An opportunity to represent the best state and university in the country. An opportunity to better themselves through education and sport. An opportunity to become their best version. An opportunity that can lead to endless new opportunities. What they do with that opportunity will ultimately be their decision.  The most successful ballplayers seize their opportunities every day."
 
"We hope we can further instill this mindset in these 13 terrific players," Sabins continued. "We have 6 pitchers, 6 position players, and 1 two-way player. I strongly believe this group of players will set WVU Baseball up to be successful for years to come."
 
Zahir Barjam | INF | Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic | P27 Academy
Zahir Barjam plays for coach Corey Warner at P27 Academy in Lexington, South Carolina. He was named Miami Dade All-County Team in 2023 and 2024. On the Perfect Game circuit, Barjam hit .439 and made three All-Tournament Teams. He is the No. 1 shortstop and No. 2 overall prospect in South Carolina by Perfect Game as well as the No. 39 shortstop and No. 119 overall prospect nationally. The son of Alberto Barjam and Isis Santana, he is currently undecided on a major at West Virginia.
 
Hudson Cavallo| RHP | Hopewell Junction, New York | Arlington HS
Hudson Cavallo plays for coach John Biasotti at Arlington High School. According to Perfect Game, he is the No. 6 right-handed pitcher and No. 17 overall prospect in New York. Nationally, he is ranked as the No. 247-ranked RHP. The son of Raymond and Victoria, he plans on studying Finance at West Virginia.
 
Josiah Crider| C | Fulks Run, Virginia | Broadway HS
Josiah Crider plays for coach George Laase at Broadway High School. He is a three-time All-District First Team catcher and two-time All-Region First Team catcher for the Fighting Gobblers. Crider is the No. 5 catcher and No. 44 overall prospect in Virginia as well as the No. 174 catcher nationwide, according to Perfect Game. The son of Jeff and Regina, he plans on studying Fisheries and Wildlife Management at WVU.
 
Sean Goldy| INF | Greenwood Village, Colorado | Cherry Creek HS
Sean Goldy plays for coach Joe Smith at Cherry Creek High School. He has been a three-year varsity starter for the Bruins and is the No. 2-ranked shortstop and No. 11 overall player in Colorado by Perfect Game. Nationally, he is ranked as the No. 186 shortstop. The son of Scott and Kathleen, Goldy plans on majoring in Business at West Virginia.
 
Ben Goodacre| RHP | Ancaster, Ontario, Canada | Ancaster HS
Goodacre plays for coach Ryan Lounsburry at Ancaster High School. With the Royals, he was a three-time city champion and earned the team's MVP and Coaches Award. He is the top right-handed pitcher and No. 2 overall prospect from Ontario according to Perfect Game as well as the No. 181 overall and No. 46 RHP in USA/Canada. Off the field, he also played water polo and is a four-time honor roll student. The son of Simon and Peggy, Goodacre plans on studying General Business at WVU.
 
Tyrus Hall| INF | Victoria, British Columbia, Canada | Bossier Parish CC | Oak Bay HS
Hall joins the Mountaineers from Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana where he plays under coach Bobby Gilliam.  As a freshman for the Cavaliers, Hall hit .306 with four home runs, seven doubles, five triples, 31 RBI, and 39 runs scored while stealing 22 bases. He has also been part of the Canadien Junior National Team. The son of Marty Hall and Trawala Whitehouse, Hall plans on majoring in General Business at West Virginia.
 
JT Huether | RHP | Fort Myers, Florida | Canterbury School
Huether plays for coach Frank Turco at the Canterbury School where he earned the team's Cy Young Award and Comeback Player of the Year. According to Perfect Game, he is the No. 20 third baseman and No. 294 player in Florida as well as the No. 162 third baseman in the country. Huether also played football for Canterbury. The son of JD and Amber, he plans on majoring in Business at WVU.
 
Weston Mazey | INF | Morgantown, West Virginia | Morgantown HS
Weston Mazey plays for Pat Sherald at Morgantown High School. He has a career .508 OBP with the Mohigans and stole 22 bases as a junior. Mazey is the No. 1 player in West Virginia and the No. 288 shortstop in the nation according to Perfect Game. No stranger to the Mountaineers, Mazey is the son of Amanda and former head coach Randy Mazey. Weston plans to pursue a Forensic Examiner degree at West Virginia.
 
Wyatt Mosley | LHP | Dansville, Michigan | Dansville HS
Wyatt Mosely plays for coach Matt Bailey at Dansville High School. With the Aggies, he is two-time All-State, two-time All-Region, three-time All-District, and three-time All-Conference. Mosley is the No. 3 left-handed pitcher and No. 7 overall prospect in Michigan by Perfect game and No. 41 LHP and No. 391 overall prospect. The son of Jimmy and Jamie, he plans on majoring in General Business at WVU.
 
David Perez | INF/RHP | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Archbishop Ryan HS
David Perez plays for coach Eric Brooks at Archbishop Ryan High School, where he serves as team captain. According to Perfect Game, he is the top-ranked shortstop and No. 2 overall prospect in Pennsylvania. Nationally, he is ranked as the No. 47 shortstop and No. 156 overall prospect. The son of Samuel Perez and Meyli Abreu, he plans on majoring in Sport Management at West Virginia.
 
Matthew Robaugh | INF | Washington, Pennsylvania | Trinity High School
Matthew Robaugh plays for coach Jon Stack at Trinity High School. At Trinity, he is a two-time All-Section First Team selection and All-State First Team honoree. As a junior, Robaugh was named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WPIAL 5A Player of the Year. He is the No. 9 shortstop and No. 48 overall prospect in Pennsylvania and No. 375 shortstop nationally by Perfect Game. The son of Carl and Erika, Robaugh plans on majoring in Business at WVU.

Brayden Robinson| RHP | Crofton, Maryland | Archbishop Spalding HS
Brayden Robinson plays for coach Joe Palumbo at Archbishop Spalding High School. He has helped the Cavaliers to two MIAA State Championships while being named to the 2024 MSABC Preseason All-State Team. Robinson is the No. 5 RHP and No. 14 overall player in Maryland by Perfect Game as well as the No. 205 RHP in the country. The son of Curtis and Natalie, he is undecided on a major at West Virginia.
 
Weston Smith | RHP | Culloden, West Virginia | Hurricane HS
Weston Smith plays for coach Brian Sutphin at Hurricane High School, where he was named to the All-State Second Team as an outfielder. Smith is the No. 1 RHP and No. 2 overall prospect in West Virginia. The son of Jason and Amanda, he intends on majoring in Sport Management at WVU.
