Mountaineers Release 2025 Baseball Schedule

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, along with the Big 12 Conference, has announced the 2025 baseball schedule.

The 56-game slate features 25 contests at Wagener Field at Kendrick Family Ballpark as well as 14 meetings with 2024 NCAA Tournament teams. In all, WVU will take on four squads that reached the postseason including two regional hosts.

The Mountaineers are coming off a historic season in which they finished 36-24 and reached the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history.


West Virginia opens its 133rd year of baseball and first under head coach Steve Sabins with a four-game series at Jacksonville from Feb. 14-16, playing a doubleheader on Saturday. The Mountaineers follow that with a weekend series at Lipscomb from Feb. 21-23, in Nashville, Tennessee.


The Mountaineers open the home slate on Feb. 25 against Ohio, the second straight season that WVU has had a home game in the month of February.


West Virginia will head to Charlotte for the second consecutive season, this time to take on Queens (N.C.) for a four-game set from Feb. 28-March 3.


The Mountaineers return home for four straight beginning with a series against Kennesaw State from March 7-9 before hosting Towson on March 11.


Big 12 play begins for WVU at Oklahoma State from March 14-16 before returning home for six straight games, starting with James Madison, March 18-19. It is the first time the Mountaineers and Dukes will meet on the diamond since 2014.


After West Virginia made trips to Tucson the past two seasons which included winning the NCAA Tucson Regional in 2024, the Arizona Wildcats come to Morgantown for the first time from March 21-23 for the Big 12 home-opening series at Kendrick Family Ballpark. The Mountaineers will close out the homestand with a matchup against Marshall, March 25.

The Mountaineers will make its first trip to Provo, Utah to take on BYU from March 27-29 before going to Ohio State for one game on April 1. The next day will be the first Backyard Brawl of the season as Pitt comes to Kendrick Family Ballpark on April 2.


Four more home games follow as Utah makes its first trip to Morgantown from April 4-6 before the Mountaineers host Penn State on April 8.


After not playing in 2024, West Virginia and Houston will meet for the first time in the Space City from April 11-13. The Mountaineers will remain on the road for the second game of the season against Marshall, this time in Huntington on April 15.


From April 17-19, the Mountaineers will play host to Cincinnati for the first time since 2011 and the first time ever at Kendrick Family Ballpark.


West Virginia will make the return trip to State College on April 22 to take on Penn State before heading to the Sunshine State for the second time to play UCF from April 25-27. It will be the first time the Mountaineers make the trek to Orlando.


A neutral-site game against Marshall at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston follows on April 30 before the Mountaineers return home for three against Texas Tech from May 2-4.


The second edition of the Backyard Brawl occurs on May 6 at Charles L. Cost Field in Pittsburgh before WVU goes to Kansas State for a series against the Wildcats, May 10-12.


The Mountaineers close out the regular season at home from May 15-17 against Kansas.


The 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will once again take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, home of the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers, from May 21-24. There will be a new format this season with 12 teams qualifying in a single-elimination tournament with the top four seeds earning a bye. The full bracket can be found here.
