MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Goalkeeper
Kayza Massey of the West Virginia University women's soccer team has signed a professional contract with Stade de Reims in France, the club announced today.
Massey becomes the 35th professional Mountaineer in program history, as well as WVU's first player to sign a professional contract this year.
An Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, native, Massey started 72 of the 76 matches she played between the posts for WVU. After five years in Gold and Blue, she made a name for herself in West Virginia's career record books. She logged 6,620 career minutes to rank No. 4 on WVU's all-time list and posted 28 shutouts during her career, which also places her at No. 4 on the program's career clean sheets ranking. She finished her Mountaineer career with 207 saves, slotting her at No. 5 in program history.
The 2022 Big 12 Co-Goalkeeper of the Year, Massey became WVU's first goalkeeper of the year in program history. She was named to the All-Big 12 First and Second Team during her Mountaineer career, while also garnering weekly honors from the Big 12 Conference, United Soccer Coaches and WVU athletics.
In the classroom, Massey was named to the Academic All-Big 12 First and Rookie Teams during her time as a Mountaineer.
