
West Virginia Moves to No. 23 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team checks in at No. 23 in the Associated Press (AP) Poll, announced Monday.
The ranking is the second straight week and the fifth time this season WVU has appeared in the weekly poll. The Mountaineers are 17-2 on the season and sit at 6-2 in Big 12 conference play. West Virginia enters this week as the No. 24 team in the NET rankings and is riding a four-game winning streak.
WVU received 132 points this week to rank 23rd in the poll and is one of four Big 12 conference teams featured in the latest rankings. The ranking is the highest this season for the Mountaineers.
Kansas State (20-1, 9-0 Big 12) is No. 2 with 819 points while Texas (19-3, 6-3 Big 12) comes in at No. 12 with 452 points. Baylor (16-3, 5-3 Big 12) is just behind at No. 13 with 441 points.
No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 Kansas State, No. 3 Iowa, No. 4 Stanford, and No. 5 NC State made up this week's top five.
West Virginia closes out its homestand on Tuesday, Jan. 30, when they look to sweep the season series against UCF. Tipoff inside the WVU Coliseum is set for 7 p.m. ET.
