West Virginia Welcomes Wright State for Education Day

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team is set to host its annual Education Day game on Monday, Dec. 18, against Wright State.
Tipoff against the Raiders is set for 10 a.m. ET, inside the WVU Coliseum, with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. Monday's contest against WSU will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 WSZT-FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call.
Additionally, Monday's game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now, with Nick Farrell and Meg Bulger on the call. Live stats and game notes will be available on WVUsports.com.
Tickets for the contest can be purchased at WVUGAME.com or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located inside the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. Monday is 'Education Day' at the Coliseum, as the Mountaineers welcome over 6,000 students from local schools to enjoy the game.
Each student in attendance will receive an educational workbook filled with questions, games and more. Additionally, WVU will be running education-based promotions throughout the game.
West Virginia (9-0, 0-0 Big 12) and Wright State (6-4, 1-1 Horizon) meet for the seventh time on Monday morning. The Mountaineers are winners of three straight, last winning in 2004, 60-38 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Fairborn, Ohio. WVU holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Of note, the Mountaineers have not lost at home vs. a non-Power 5 opponent since Dec. 20, 2012, vs. Duquesne.
Statistically, West Virginia is averaging 10 more points per game this season and is shooting 6% better than the Raiders from the field. Additionally, WSU is averaging just 13.6 turnovers per game but WVU's defense is averaging 25.1 turnovers forced per game this season. West Virginia's turnovers forced per game is the third best in the nation.

Wright State enters the contest off a 69-48 loss to Bowling Green on Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Dayton, Ohio. Layne Ferrell and Rachel Loobie led the way in scoring with 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Alexis Hutchison (17.0), Ferrell (11.9) and Kacee Baumhower (11.5) score in double figures per game as Loobie also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 6.9 per game.
Last time out, the Mountaineers The broke the century mark for just the 25th time in program history with a 107-43 win over Delaware State on Dec. 10. Junior guard JJ Quinerly led WVU in four categories, scoring 25 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and seven steals. She is just the second player in NCAA DI history since the 1999 season to reach the stat line in a game.
Quinerly (18.4), sophomore guard Jordan Harrison (13.1) and fifth-year senior guard Lauren Fields (11.3) pace WVU's offensive effort. The trio all average over 2.9 steals per contest, serving as the only NCAA team in the country with three players averaging double figures and over 2.9 steals.
Redshirt junior guard Kyah Watson is pacing WVU in rebounding, with 5.6 boards per game.
