MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team travels to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 28.
This year's championship is hosted by Texas Tech University at Chaparral Ridge Cross Country Course. The women's 6k race is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET. Live streaming and live stats will be available at WVUsports.com.
The awards ceremony will take place following the conclusion of the men's 8k race. The top-15 finishers will be named to the 2022 All-Big 12 cross country team.
Last season at the conference meet, then-redshirt sophomore Ceili McCabe took first-place with a 6k time of 20:44.2. This marked the first time a Mountaineer has won the Big 12 individual title.
West Virginia secured third place, as three Mountaineers collected All-Big 12 honors. Oklahoma State finished first at last year's conference championship, followed by Iowa State in second.
WVU is coming off its developmental team taking eighth at the Go Fast River Run with 183 points. Redshirt sophomore Abbey Yuhasz led the way in the race, earning third with a time of 21:48.3. Yuhasz's performance was good enough to be named Big 12 Runner of the Week on Oct. 25.
