MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team continues its 2021 slate on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the LHU Invitational, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Live stats will be available at wvusports.com.
The women's 6k race is slated to begin at 11 a.m. ET, at the West Branch Cross Country Course.
WVU is one of 27 schools racing in the LHU Invitational.
"We are going to bring a very small portion of the team to Lock Haven as a tune-up for next week's debut meet at Louisville," said coach Sean Cleary. "We will run the entire team next week, but we wanted to give this group an additional opportunity to race."
The Mountaineers opened the 2021 season at the Lehigh Invitational, on Sept. 3, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. WVU raced a small version of their team. Fifth-year senior Hayley Jackson led the way for the West Virginia University cross country team and took second place. Jackson finished the 6k in a time of 21:43.4. She was followed by sophomore Maria Kaylor who placed 18th (22:27.9).
Sophomore Megan Weaver followed behind, placing 26th in a time of 22:46.0. Redshirt junior Malina Mitchell placed 56th and rounded out the Mountaineers at the Lehigh Invitational.
