Box Score MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team was unable to overcome Baylor in night two of action, as the Mountaineers suffered a 3-1 loss on Saturday evening, in Morgantown, West Virginia, at the WVU Coliseum. The Bears (13-4, 7-1 Big 12) took the match from the Mountaineers (13-6, 3-5 Big 12) in set scores of 25-16, 25-19, 23-25 and 29-27. 
 
"We need to minimize out hitting errors," said coach Reed Sunahara. "We have to fix that and we have to make sure we are competitive from the beginning, instead of waiting two sets."
 
Fifth-year outside hitter Adrian Ell led the Mountaineers after recording her fourth double-double of the season, tallying a team-high 13 kills and 11 digs. 
 
Additionally, three Mountaineers tallied double-digit scores, including senior setter Lacey Zerwas who added 36 assists, junior middle blocker Emmy Ogogor who recorded ten kills and sophomore outside hitter Skye Stokes had 12 digs.  
 
Overall, WVU finished the match with 50 kills, 13 team blocks and a match-high five service aces.
 
Baylor got on the board first and took an early 9-4 lead. The set went to a media timeout with the Bears holding the lead until taking set one over the Mountaineers, 25-16. 
 
After Baylor tallied a point to open the set, WVU went on a scoring run to go up, 5-1. During the run, Stokes served up a pair of aces. BU used a scoring run to take a 9-16 lead. After a few traded points, the Mountaineers used a four-point scoring run to tie 12-12. The two team's trade points, along with a few scoring runs. Baylor held the lead, but after a pair of Mountaineer points, the Bears called a timeout with the score in their favor, 22-18. Baylor took set two, 25-19. 
 
West Virginia opened the third set, but Baylor went on a 4-0 scoring run to take the lead. A pair of WVU points brought the score to 5-4. The teams traded points with Baylor holding the lead to the media timeout, 15-11. Baylor went 8-4 in points following the media timeout, 23-15. The Mountaineers fired back and scored ten unanswered points to take set three, 25-23.
 
The Mountaineers took an early fourth-set lead, 15-9, but the Bears fired back and came within two points of WVU, 15-13. The Mountaineers held the lead to bring the score to 19-17, but a Bears scoring run gave them a 22-21 lead. The teams traded the set point lead, but a three-point scoring run gave Baylor set four, 29-27.
 
Looking ahead, the Mountaineers travel to Ames, Iowa for a two-match series against Iowa State, at the James H. Hamilton Coliseum, from Oct. 30-31. First serve for both matches will be at 2 p.m. ET. Sunday's match will air on ESPNU.
