WVU Closes Regular Season

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - The West Virginia University cross country team closes out its regular season at the Nuttycombe Invitational, in Madison, Wisconsin, on Friday, Oct. 15. Live stats will be available at wvusports.com.
The women's 6k B race is slated to begin at noon ET, followed by the Women's 6k Championship at 1:20 p.m., at the Thomas Zimmerman Championship Cross Country Course.
"We are excited to see how the team handles themselves against the best of the best," said coach Sean Cleary. "We have trained well, and will line up healthy for tomorrow's race. There is not much more we can ask for."
Recently, ten Mountaineers competed at the Louisville Classic on Oct. 2. Junior Ceili McCabe led the team with a first-place finish and a personal best time of 16:27.8. Redshirt junior Katherine Dowie followed behind in 17th place and finished the 5k in a personal best time of 17:01.9.
Additionally, fifth-year senior Hayley Jackson finished the 5k in 32nd place in a time of 17:21.2. She was followed by redshirt junior Mikaela Lucki, who made her West Virginia debut. Lucki placed 34th and finished in a personal WVU career-best time of 17:23.9.
The squad saw another Mountaineer debut from fifth-year senior Sylvia Russell, who finished in 38th place, in 17:31.9. Russell also saw a personal WVU career-high time.
Following the weekend, the Mountaineers will begin their postseason in Stillwater, Oklahoma for the Big 12 Championships, on Friday, Oct. 29, at OSU Cross Country Course.
