Mountaineers Rank No. 2

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team opens the spring season ranked No. 2 in the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Rankings.

This week's rankings are based on NCAA Team Selection Rankings, which are comprised of a squad's top-three scores earned at three different venues. The Mountaineers (7-0, 6-0 GARC) claim an average of 4717.67.

TCU (4718) ranks No. 1, while Kentucky (4699.33) sits at No. 3. Akron ranks No. 4 (4682) and is followed by Air Force (4675) at No. 5. Of note, Air Force has only shot at two locations.

Ole Miss sits at No. 6 (4671.33), with Memphis (4670), Navy (4667.67), Nebraska (4664.67) and Army (4662) rounding out the top 10.

West Virginia returns to competition following a two-month break, as the squad travels to Tokyo, Japan, to shoot against the All-Japan University Team on Sunday, Jan. 12.
