MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt juniors Olivia Hill and Andrea Pettit of the West Virginia University cross country and track and field teams have been named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The honor is the first for the two Mountaineers, who now advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. Those teams are set to be announced in June.
The WVU cross country/track and field programs have had at least one representative on the Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team for 13 consecutive seasons, dating back to 2006-07. In that span, the Mountaineers have placed multiple student-athletes on the team eight times.

Along with earning the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, the Big 12's top academic honor, Hill also was a 2018 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Individual selection. Hill also has been a part of the Big 12 Commissioner's and Garrett Ford Academic Honor Rolls.
On the track, Hill is a two-time NCAA regional qualifier in track and field, placing 30th in the 10,000 meters at the 2019 NCAA East Preliminary Round on May 23. She also placed fourth in the 10,000 meters at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship on May 10, earning All-Big 12 honors. In cross country, Hill registered a pair of top-three finishes during the 2018 campaign.
Pettit graduated summa cum laude with a degree in immunology and medical microbiology in May. She maintained a 4.0 GPA and was featured on the President's and Dean's Lists. The Morgantown, West Virginia, native was named a finalist for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship, and she received WVU's top student honor, the Order of Augusta.
The 2019 WVU Outstanding Senior Award recipient also is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection in cross country and track and field, and she is a recipient of the Big 12's Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.
