
Manoah Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following an eight-inning, shutout performance, junior right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Manoah struck out 11 batters to lead WVU to an 11-1 victory at No. 23 Oklahoma State on Friday. Manoah had another fantastic start and held OSU to no runs on just three hits with no walks, as he led the Big 12 in innings pitched (8.0) and strikeouts (11) and was third in opponent batting average (.115). He was the only Big 12 pitcher last week to not allow a run in more than 4.0 innings pitched.
In the win, Manoah retired the side in order five times and limited the Cowboys to just three baserunners, only one of which advanced to second base, in the eighth inning. Manoah earned his sixth quality start in eight starts this season.
