
Trio Place in Top-11 at Spring Selection

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three from the West Virginia University rifle team finished in the top-11 of the two-day women's 50m 3 positions competition at the USA Shooting Rifle/Pistol Spring Selection Match on March 30, at the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Senior Ginny Thrasher finished second overall with a score of 2340, shooting a field-best 1168 in the open relay on Friday and 1156 on Saturday. She finished first in the final both days, tallying a 450.9 total and earning an additional 16 points.
As a top-two finisher, Thrasher has earned a spot on the 3 positions squad for the United States' team for the 2019 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cups in Beijing and Munich, as well as the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Earlier this week, Thrasher earned a spot on the air rifle squad for the World Cups. Olympic quotas will be awarded at all three competitions.
Junior Morgan Phillips finished sixth in the women's 50m 3 positions competition with a 2311 two-day total. The Salisbury, Maryland, native shot 1155 on Friday and 1151 on Saturday, when she also finished with a 420.6 mark in the final and earned five additional points for her fourth-place finish.
Sophomore Sarah Osborn placed 11th overall, shooting 1154 on Friday and 1142 on Saturday for a two-day score of 2296.
