Mountaineers Travel to Upstate New York

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (4-1, 0-1 Big 12) is back on the road, as it travels to Williamsville, New York, to square off with Niagara on Friday, Feb. 22, and Buffalo on Saturday, Feb. 23.
"We are looking forward to the weekend of matches at Niagara and Buffalo," said head coach Miha Lisac. "It is a good opportunity for us to continue to get better as a team and focus on improving our tennis game in preparation for the Big 12."

Friday's match against Niagara is scheduled to take place indoors at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Williamsville, starting at 1 p.m. ET.
Marking the second meeting between the two schools, the Mountaineers hold a 1-0 advantage over the Purple Eagles. In 2015, WVU defeated Niagara, 6-1.
Niagara enters Friday's contest with a 1-6 record, including a 0-1 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
Saturday's match against Buffalo is scheduled to take place indoors at the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville, starting at 1 p.m. ET.
This season's matchup marks the seventh meeting between the Mountaineers and the Bulls. WVU holds a 4-2 record against Buffalo. In last season's regular-season meeting, West Virginia defeated the Bulls in Morgantown, 4-3.
Buffalo enters Saturday's matchup with a 6-1 record and is currently riding a three-match win streak after defeating Towson, Mercyhurst and Quinnipiac.
NOTES: The Mountaineers own a 115-108 record over 2019 opponents, including a 1-0 record against Niagara and a 4-2 record against Buffalo ... in its first and only meeting against Niagara in 2015, West Virginia defeated the Purple Eagles, 6-1 ... in last year's regular-season meeting, WVU defeated Buffalo, 4-3 ... through five matches this season, the Mountaineers own a 19-11 record in singles and a 16-12 record in doubles ... sophomore Anne-Sophie Courteau leads West Virginia with eight wins ... freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia is second on the team with seven wins while junior Sofia Duran is third on the team with six wins.
