Mountaineer Vaulters Cap Regular Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four pole vaulters from the West Virginia University track and field team closed the Mountaineers' 2018 outdoor regular season at the Jim Thorpe Open, in University Park, Pennsylvania, on Friday.
Results
Seniors Sara Finfrock and Rebekah Lafata and freshmen Ellie Gardner and Mikayla Shute competed at Penn State's Nittany Lion Outdoor Track for the event. Gardner and Finfrock led the way, tying for second place with jumps of 3.67 meters (12 feet, 0.5 inches). LaFata earned a sixth-place finish with a mark of 3.37 meters (11 feet, 0.75 inches).
West Virginia also was originally scheduled to compete at the Billy Hayes Invitational, in Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday, but the team did not participate.
Next up, WVU opens the postseason at the 2018 Big 12 Outdoor Championship, from May 11-13, in Waco, Texas.
