WVU Enters Top 10 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Dec. 4. 2017) – Following a win over a top-25 team in the Big 12/SEC Challenge last weekend, the West Virginia University women's basketball team moved up one spot to rank at No. 10 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll, released on Monday.
The Mountaineers (7-0) currently rank at No. 12 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Top 25 Poll released last week. The next USA Today Poll is slated for Tuesday.
WVU earned 482 points and is one of three Big 12 teams to appear in the rankings. No. 2 Texas leads the way for the league with 749 points, while No. 8 Baylor earned 606 points. Additionally, Oklahoma State (8) and Oklahoma (6) received votes in this week's poll.
Behind 24 points from senior forward Teana Muldrow, WVU claimed a 70-56 win over then-No. 18/21 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, on Sunday. Senior forward Kristina King recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while senior guard Chania Ray (16) and junior guard Katrina Pardee (10) also finished in double figures.
The win was WVU's first nonconference road win over a top-25 team since 2013.
The Mountaineers return to Morgantown for a pair of games inside the WVU Coliseum. They'll host rival Pitt on Thursday in a 7 p.m. tip before welcoming Coppin State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
