MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After pacing the No. 11/15 West Virginia women's basketball team in scoring and rebounding last week, senior forward Teana Muldrow was named the Co-Big 12 Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.
It is Muldrow's first career Big 12 weekly accolade. She shares the honor with Oklahoma's Vionise Pierre-Louis. In addition, she was named the College Sports Madness Big 12 Player of the Week.
The East Orange, New Jersey, native averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to lead the Mountaineers to a 2-0 ranking as the team wrapped up a three-game homestand. She posted a team-high 27 points and 12 rebounds for her 12th career double-double in a 101-47 win over Sacramento State on Tuesday. Muldrow went on to score 20 points and nine rebounds, just missing a double-double, in WVU's 87-59 win over North Florida on Sunday. Additionally, she tied her career high with three blocks on the night.
Muldrow finished the week shooting 60.7 percent from the field, sinking four shots from beyond the arc and going 9-for-11 at the free-throw line. She has made a field goal in 48 consecutive games and has grabbed a rebound in 76 straight contests, dating back to April of 2015.
West Virginia hits the road this week for the first time this season as the team heads to Paradise Jam in Melbourne, Florida. The Mountaineers open the three-game tournament on Thursday with a noon ET tilt against Butler at Eastern Florida State College.
