MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After a 50-point victory over Central Connecticut State last week, the No. 12/15 West Virginia University women's basketball team will host Sacramento State on Tuesday in a 7 p.m. tip at the WVU Coliseum.

West Virginia (1-0) claimed a 102-52 victory over Central Connecticut State to open the 2017-18 season on Friday. Forward
Teana Muldrow became the first WVU senior since Bria Holmes in 2016 to have a 30-point performance, posting a career-high scoring effort with 30 points and notching her 11th career double-double with 12 rebounds.
Junior guards
Katrina Pardee and
Naomi Davenport had career nights as well. In addition to 13 points, Pardee had a career-best seven rebounds, while Davenport had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds in her WVU debut. Additionally, Davenport led the Mountaineers with five steals.
Freshman guard
Ashley Jones dished out nine assists, ranking second in the Big 12 this week. She also came up with seven points and four steals as one of six Mountaineers to make their debut at the WVU Coliseum.
WVU has now pushed its nonconference win streak to 33 games inside the Coliseum. The Mountaineers are 105-7 at home against nonconference foes and are 30-15 all-time in season-opening contests.
Tuesday marks the first-ever meeting between WVU and Sacramento State.
"(They) play a totally different style of basketball," WVU coach
Mike Carey said. "They press a lot and all that. They won't take a shot in the first 20 seconds of the shot clock. They'll go up and down, try to get you out of your system and make it an ugly game. Hopefully, we don't let them do that. They do a good job of making it an ugly game."
Sacramento State (0-2) enters the matchup after dropping a pair of road games in Kentucky. The Hornets fell, 101-70, to the Kentucky Wildcats in their season opener on Friday before dropping a 75-71 tilt in the final minutes at Morehead State on Saturday. Sophomore guard Hannah Friend leads Sacramento State in scoring at 16.0 points per game, while senior guard Maranne Johnson averages 7.0 rebounds per game through two contests. Sacramento State head coach Bunky Harkleroad boasts local ties, as he served as the head coach at Glenville State from 2010-2013.
