MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Rising sophomores Vanessa Flores and Bianca St. Georges, as well as incoming freshman Rylee Foster, are busy training for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea.
Flores, a native of Baytown, Texas, trained with the Mexican Women’s National U-20 Team in April in Mexico City prior to participating in matches at Notre Dame and Michigan. The midfielder was among 24 invited to the camp.
St. Georges, a native of St. Felix de Valois, Quebec, departed the Mountaineers’ 2016 European Tour three days early to participate in the Canadian Women’s National U-20 Team 10-day camp in Mexico City. The defender, along with Foster, a goalkeeper, will compete in two closed-door matches against Mexico during the camp.
Flores, St. Georges and Foster have been fixtures on the Mexico and Canada teams, respectively. All three competed at the 2015 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in December. Canada finished second, losing 1-0 to the Unites States in the championship match. Mexico placed third, defeating Honduras, 2-0, in the consolation match.
The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea is set for Nov. 13 – Dec. 3.
