MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team begins Big 12 Conference play at No. 7 TCU on March 18-20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
The series between the Mountaineers (10-4) and Horned Frogs (13-3) begins on Friday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT. The series continues at Lupton Stadium on Saturday, with first pitch now changed to 4 p.m. ET/3 p.m. CT. The series finale is set for Sunday at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.

Junior right-hander Chad Donato will take the mound for WVU in Friday’s opener. He owns an 0-2 record on the year with a 3.51 ERA, but the Mountaineers are 2-2 in games he has started. Saturday, senior lefty Ross Vance will get the ball for West Virginia. Vance owns a 3-0 record with a 1.99 ERA. In Sunday’s finale, sophomore right-hander BJ Myers will toe the rubber.
For TCU, freshman righty Luken Baker will start Friday’s contest. Baker is 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA. Junior right-hander Brian Howard will go for the Horned Frogs on Saturday before junior lefty Rex Hill gets the start on Sunday. Howard is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA, while Hill is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA.

WVU stays on the road for a midweek contest at Penn State on Tuesday, March 22. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET in State College, Pa.
Big 12 Conference play continues the following weekend, when WVU travels to take on Kansas in a three-game series beginning on March 25.
SCOUTING TCU
No. 7 TCU enters the weekend with a 13-3 mark. The Horned Frogs are coming off a series win against USC over the weekend and a 6-4 victory at Rice on Tuesday. TCU is 9-3 at Lupton Stadium and 4-0 away from home. Following their first loss, a 5-3 setback on opening day to Loyola Marymount, the Horned Frogs won seven in a row. After a 4-3 defeat to Gonzaga, TCU claimed the next five. Sunday’s 16-6 loss to USC was followed by a 6-4 win at Rice on Tuesday.
The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 7 in both the NCBWA poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. TCU sits at No. 8 in the Baseball America and D1 Baseball rankings, while Collegiate Baseball votes them at No. 11.
TCU is led by Jim Schlossnagle, in his 13th season. He has led TCU to a 529-239 record, including NCAA Tournament appearances in all but one year since 2003. TCU has been to three College World Series, including in 2014 and 2015.
HISTORY VS. THE HORNED FROGS
West Virginia is 2-9 all-time against TCU, with all 11 meetings coming since both teams joined the Big 12 Conference for the 2013 season. The Mountaineers are 0-3 in Fort Worth, Texas, and 1-5 in home contests. At the Big 12 Championship, WVU is 1-1 with a 10-3 victory in 2013.
In the first meeting between the two teams, in 2013, WVU posted a 2-0 win in Charleston, W.Va., before TCU claimed the next two games to win the series.
Last season, TCU swept the season series at Monongalia County Ballpark, with 9-4, 6-2 and 5-0 wins.
In Fort Worth, TCU swept the only previous meeting, in 2014, with 4-3, 8-0 and 3-1 victories. In postseason action, the Mountaineers recorded a 10-3 victory in the 2013 Big 12 Championship. It was both teams’ inaugural year in the conference. The two teams met again in Oklahoma City in 2014, with TCU prevailing for a 6-2 win.
LAST TIME OUT: WVU BEATS RADFORD
In its first true midweek game of the year, WVU beat Radford 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon to cap a 3-1 opening homestand.
Sophomore Shaun Corso led the offense with two hits and a career-high four RBIs, including the game-winner in a four-run third.
After giving up a run on two hits and facing seven batters in the first, freshman righty Tanner Campbell allowed just two hits over the next five innings to earn his first career win. On the day, the freshman struck out a career-high six batters and walked three.
