Women's Basketball Climbs to No. 13 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team climbed one spot to No. 13 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released on Monday.
West Virginia (11-0) collected a 107-40 win over Longwood on Saturday in Charleston. The Mountaineers are off to their second-best start in program history and can finish the regular-season nonconference slate undefeated for the third time in school history.
WVU earned 435 votes this week, 29 more than the prior week. Other Big 12 teams in the ranking include No. 3 Baylor (759), No. 16 Texas (261), No. 20 Oklahoma (188) and No. 24 Kansas State (71). Oklahoma State (16) is in the others receiving votes category.
The Mountaineers are No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. A new poll will be released on Tuesday.
No. 13/14 West Virginia concludes nonconference action against Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday, Dec. 21 in a 6:30 p.m. tipoff at the WVU Coliseum. Wednesday’s contest is Feed A Family and Family Night. Any fan that brings a canned food item will receive free admission to Wednesday’s game or a future women’s basketball game. Fans can purchase a Family Night package, which includes four tickets and a $15 concession voucher, for $25. Tickets may be purchased online at WVUGAME.com or by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office at 1-800-WVU GAME.
