MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women’s basketball team announced its promotional schedule for the 2016-17 season on Tuesday.
Saturday, November 12 is the season opener for the Mountaineers when WVU welcomes Charleston Southern to the Coliseum. It’s Poster Day, fans can pick up their 2016-17 schedule poster at the game.
The Mountaineers will celebrate National Philanthropy Day on Tuesday, Nov. 15, when West Virginia takes on Howard. Fans that bring a new or gently used clothing item to donate to the Salvation Army, will receive admission to the contest.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, the Mountaineers will play Coppin State. Admission is free courtesy of WVU Medicine. A tipoff time will be determined once the WVU-Oklahoma football kickoff is set.
WVU will have several Mountaineer Kids Club events throughout the season including Nov. 27 vs. High Point, Dec. 4 vs. Ole Miss, Jan. 4 vs. Baylor and Jan. 14 vs. Texas.
On Sunday, Dec. 4, West Virginia plays Ole Miss in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. A limited number of holiday ugly sweater t-shirts will be given to fans in attendance. There will also be an opportunity to donate new toys for free admission.
The USC Upstate game on Saturday, Dec. 10, is Musket Coloring Sheet Day. Kids can download the Musket coloring sheet at WVUsports.com and submit a completed sheet on gameday for free admission.
The annual ‘Feed A Family Night’ food drive will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 21, when WVU hosts Mount St. Mary’s at 6:30 p.m. Any fan that brings a non-perishable food item for donation to the Blue Gate will receive free admission.
WVU’s Big 12 home opener against Baylor on Wednesday, Jan. 4, is a United Bank $1 Admission. Additionally, the Mountaineers will host a Teddy Bear Toss following the game. Fans are invited to bring new or gently used teddy bears and other stuffed animals to toss on the court at the game. All donated items will be distributed by the City of Morgantown Police and Monongalia County Sherriff’s Office to child victims of crime and trauma.
The Mountaineers welcome Oklahoma for Family Day on Saturday, Jan. 8. A family day package includes four tickets and a $15 concession voucher for $25.
Superhero Day is set for Saturday, Jan. 14 when the Mountaineers host Texas. Admission is $1 courtesy of United Bank. A limited supply of superhero capes will be given to kids. Additionally, Heroes4Higher’s Batman and the Batmobile will be at the game. WVU will also recognize its alumni during the game.
WVU Faculty/Staff Night is set for Wednesday, Jan. 25, against Texas Tech. Admission is $1 courtesy of United Bank for the Iowa State contest on Saturday, Feb. 4.
West Virginia participates in the annual Play4Kay pink game on Saturday, Feb. 11, against Oklahoma State. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to help raise breast cancer awareness. Admission to the contest is free courtesy of WVU Medicine.
Local Heroes Night is set for Wednesday, Feb. 15, against Kansas State when the Mountaineers will honor first responders from Morgantown, Monongalia County and surrounding areas.
West Virginia plays TCU in a $1 admission game courtesy of United Bank on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The Mountaineers will conclude the 2016-17 regular season at home with Senior Day on Monday, Feb. 27 against Kansas. The contest is also Family Day. The package is $25 and includes four tickets and a $15 concession stand voucher.
WVU will feature a pint glass series. The exclusive WVU gear will be given away during the final three games of the season: Feb. 15 vs. Kansas, Feb. 22 vs. TCU and Feb. 27 vs. Kansas.
Single game and season tickets are on sale online at WVUGAME.com or by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office at 1-800-WVU GAME. For convenience, fans can purchase tickets online and selected the print-at-home option to avoid lines at the ticket office on gameday.
