Cross Country: WVU to Race at Penn State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 3 West Virginia University cross country team is set to travel to University Park, Pa., on Oct. 16, for the Penn State National Invitational. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m.
Last season the Mountaineers took first place, as four runners finished in the top 10. Then-junior Keri Bland led the pack finishing in second place with a time of 20:11. Clara Grandt followed in third place (20:17), while Ahna Lewis took eighth (20:56) and Kaylyn Christopher finished in ninth (20:59).
WVU is coming off a first-place showing at the Paul Short Invite on Oct. 2. The Mountaineers took the top spot out of 75 teams, with 105 team points. Guelph finished in second (127), followed by Indiana (143), North Carolina State (153) and Cornell (183).
Junior Jessica O'Connell led the Mountaineers, finishing in 10th place with a time of 20:24, while redshirt freshman Sarah-Anne Brault followed in 13th (20:35) and juniors Kate Harrison and Christopher finished 20th (20:56) and 21st (20:56), respectively.
