Tyler Schiefelbein joined the West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in August of 2019 as a graphic designer for the Athletics Communications Office.

At WVU, he assists with the graphic design efforts for all athletic publications, while developing graphic and social media content on a daily basis for the athletic communications and sports marketing departments.

Schiefelbein came to West Virginia from Middle Tennessee, where he served as assistant sports information director for two years. With the Blue Raiders, he handled the publicity efforts for baseball and served as one of three contacts for the football program. In addition, he handled play-by-play radio duties for road baseball games and designed media guides and graphics for Blue Raider social media.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Alderson Broaddus University in 2017 and was a four-year kicker for the Battler football team. As a senior, his final-minute 42-yard field goal against Kentucky Wesleyan won the the GMAC championship for AB. While a student at Alderson Broaddus, Schiefelbein worked in the sports information office and was the play-by-play announcer for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The native of Philippi, West Virginia, attended Philip Barbour High School, where he was an all-state performer in soccer and football.
