Jarrod Burton has been on the Mountaineer strength and conditioning staff since 2017, working as the graduate assistant coach with football for two years before moving into his current position as the strength and conditioning coach for the WVU rowing, cross country and track & field teams.

Before he arrived in Morgantown, Burton served as the director of strength & conditioning at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise from 2013 to 2017. While at UVa-Wise, he developed and implemented strength & conditioning programs for all athletics teams.

Burton experience also includes internships at Virginia Tech, the United States Olympic Training Center and the Bradford Bulls of England’s Professional Rugby League. He also served as an assistant sports performance coach at the College of Charleston in 2013.

He holds certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association and the American Red Cross in First Aid, CPR/AED. Burton also holds a Level 1 Coaching Certification for USA Track and Field.

Burton earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science, with a minor in coaching, in 2011 from East Tennessee State University. He graduated from WVU in May 2019 with a master’s degree in coaching and sport education.
Burton and his, wife, Greta, reside in Morgantown.
