
Rowing Heads to Knecht Cup Regatta for Two-Day Competition

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team continues its spring season at the Knecht Cup Regatta on April 11-12 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The two-day regatta will take place on the Cooper River and feature a field that includes Boston, Boston College, Bryant, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Connecticut, Delaware, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, Fairfield, George Mason, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Iona, Jacksonville, La Salle, Lehigh, MIT, Marist, Massachusetts, Mercyhurst, Merrimack, Monmouth, Radcliffe, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, Saint Joseph's, Temple, Thomas Jefferson, UAlbany, Villanova and Wisconsin.
The Knecht Cup marks the second meeting this season between the Mountaineers and Boston College, Drexel, Jacksonville, Massachusetts and UAlbany.
Heat racing begins Saturday, with WVU set to compete in the 1V8, 2V8, 1V4 and 3V8, along with three entries in the 2V4.
The heats for the 2V4 begin at 10:04 a.m., followed by the 1V4 heats starting at 10:46 a.m. The Mountaineers will then race in the 3V8 heats and 2V8 heats beginning at 2:06 p.m. and 2:20 p.m., respectively. The 1V8 closes out Saturday's heat schedule starting at 3:06 p.m., and WVU's lone semifinal on Saturday will be the 1V4 beginning at 5:01 p.m.
Racing resumes Sunday with semifinal action in the 2V8 starting at 7:30 a.m. and the 1V8 beginning at 7:51 a.m. Grand and Petite Finals are scheduled to begin at 8:12 a.m.
Spectators can watch from the shores of the Cooper River Park. The course will operate primarily from the Cooper River racecourse area at North Park Drive in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Parking is available parallel along the curb closest to the river along North Park Drive. Additional parking is also available at the Cooper River Yacht Club on South Park Drive.
