MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team has been named the WVU Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
The Mountaineers went 3–0 at the Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship in Kansas City, capturing the conference title and securing an automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Entering as the No. 2 seed, West Virginia opened the weekend with a 67–54 victory over No. 10 seed Arizona State on Friday. The Mountaineers followed with a dramatic 48–47 win over No. 6 seed Colorado in Saturday's semifinal before defeating top-seeded TCU, 62–53, in Sunday's championship game.
The title marks the third conference tournament crown in program history and the first since WVU won the 2017 Big 12 Tournament. Prior to that, the Mountaineers' last conference tournament championship came in the 1989 Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Senior guard Jordan Harrison delivered a standout performance in the championship game, recording 21 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals on her way to being named the 2026 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship Most Outstanding Player. Senior guard Sydney Shaw joined her on the All-Tournament Team.
West Virginia set a new single-tournament program record with 108 rebounds, while Harrison became the program's single-tournament steals leader with 10. Meme Wheeler added her name to the record book as well, finishing with a program-best 26 rebounds across the three games.
The Mountaineers now await their postseason destination. The 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship bracket will be revealed during the Selection Show on Sunday, March 15, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
