Wilson’s Final Round 64 Leads WVU to a Third-Place Finish

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the second round in a row, a West Virginia University golfer shot an 8-under-par 64 at the Schenkel Invitational. This time, it was senior Kaleb Wilson who did so to finish third and to lead the Mountaineers to their best-ever finish at the Schenkel Invitational on Sunday in Statesboro, Georgia.
Wilson carded nine birdies on the day and finished in third place at -12 with rounds of 73-67-64=204.
Jack Michael tied for 15th place at -4 with rounds of 73-64-75=212. Aidan Dortch was under par for the second day in a row, shooting a 3-under-par 69. He finished tied for 19th place at -2 (74-71-69=214).
Westy McCabe tied for 37th place at +2 with rounds of 72-71-75=218, while Nick Turowski shot +7 with rounds of 72-71=75=218.
In the final round, the Mountaineers posted the lowest round of the day at 5-under-par. West Virginia finished in third place at -16 with rounds of 292-273-283=848. No. 26 Utah won the 15-team event at -21, while host Georgia Southern was second at -17. No. 23 Notre Dame was fourth at -15 and Mississippi State was fifth at -11.
The Mountaineers will be back in action next Sunday at The Hootie at Bulls Bay at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina.
