Michael Shoots -5 to Lead WVU in First Round

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshman golfer Jack Michael shot a 5-under-par 67 to lead the Mountaineers in day one of The Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina.
Michael, a native of Huntington, West Virginia, carded a bogey-free round with five birdies on the day and is tied for fifth place, three shots off the lead.
Seniors Westy McCabe and Kaleb Wilson each shot 1-under-par, while sophomore Nick Turowski posted an Even par round. Sophomore Aidan Dortch was +1 in round one.
After round one, the Mountaineers are tied for eighth place at -7 in the 15-team field.
The Mountaineers will play the second round on Monday morning, followed by the third and final round on Tuesday.
