MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's swimming team opened the 2026-27 campaign with a dominating, 214-61, victory over the Marshall Thundering Herd at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park on Friday.
Â
West Virginia won all 16 events to dominate the meet from start to finish. WVU was led by young talent in their first collegiate meets with freshmen Rowan Baglole and Evey Quick each winning two individual events.
Â
Baglole won the 100-yard (50.84) and 200-yard (1:48.47) freestyle events, posting the 10th-fastest time in program history in the 200-yard freestyle. She was also part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that won the event with a final time of 3:25.26.
Â
Quick took first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.68) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.02). Her 100 butterfly time is tied for sixth-fastest in program history. She was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team that opened the meet with a victory in the event.
Â
Baglole and Quick were just a snippet of what the young talent did for West Virginia. Of the 12 individual events, nine were won by first-year Mountaineers.
Â
The best performance of the meet came in the 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Taylor Clements posted the second-fastest time in program history, winning the event with a final time of 1:00.93.
Â
Including relays, West Virginia placed in the top two spots in all but one event to roll past Marshall for the second consecutive season.
Â
West Virginia returns to action against Cincinnati and Delaware on Oct. 23-24, in Morgantown.
