FARMINGTON, Pa. – The 32nd-ranked West Virginia University golf team will return to action on Monday and Tuesday by hosting the second annual Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational in Farmington, Pennsylvania.
The 54-hole event will take place at the par-72, 7,526-yard Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Resort. Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday, beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by 18 holes on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m.
Nineteen teams will be in the field. Joining host West Virginia will be Penn State, Bucknell, Campbell, Davidson, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, George Mason, George Washington, James Madison, Mount St. Mary's, Richmond, Robert Morris, Saint Francis, Seton Hall, Towson, VCU, Western Carolina and William & Mary.
West Virginia's lineup will consist of seniors Westy McCabe and Kaleb Wilson, sophomores Ryan Leach and Nick Turowski and freshman Jack Michael. Senior Carson Kammann, junior Harrison Thompson, sophomore Aidan Dortch and freshmen Brody Burgess and Gabe Schmitz will compete as individuals for the Mountaineers.
Last year, West Virginia won the inaugural event with a +2 score, while Kaleb Wilson won his first collegiate event, shooting 7-under-par. This year, the Mountaineers opened the season with a win at the Island Resort Collegiate and a third-place finish at The Gopher Invitational.
"It is always special to host an event on one of your home golf courses," coach Sean Covich said. "We are grateful for our partnership with Nemacolin, The Hardy Family and their incredible golf staff. Nemacolin provides two championship golf courses, one of which Mystic Rock hosted a PGA Tour event for several years. Our guys are off to a solid start this fall, and we hope to keep it going at Nemacolin."
