MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's soccer team opens a two-game road swing through Utah at No. 10 BYU on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Kickoff at South Field in Provo is slated for 9 p.m. ET/7 p.m. MT.

Wednesday's matchup marks just the second all-time meeting between West Virginia and BYU. The Cougars hold a 1-0 advantage in the series. The two programs' first and only meeting occurred on Aug. 31, 2009, which resulted in a 1-0 loss in a neutral-site match in University Park, Pennsylvania. Of note, Wednesday's contest marks the first between WVU and BYU as members of the Big 12 Conference. The trip also is West Virginia's first to Utah in program history.
Last time out, West Virginia played to a hard-fought, 0-0 draw with UCF in the Big 12 season opener at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex in Orlando, Florida, on Sept. 18. Each team had solid chances throughout the match, but the respective goalkeepers and back lines were stout and kept the other off the scoreboard.
UCF won the offensive battle, outshooting West Virginia 14-8 as it became the first team to outshoot the Mountaineers this season. The Knights placed four shots on goal compared to one for WVU, while UCF also edged West Virginia in corner kicks, 7-2. The Mountaineer defense was spectacular once again, securing their fifth straight shutout and sixth of the season.
Senior forward
Taylor White, junior forward
Abbey Olexa and sophomore midfielder
Maddie Levy are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece this season. Additionally, White paces the offense with four assists and 10 points.
Jennifer Rockwood is in her 31st season as the head women's soccer coach at BYU. The Cougars enter Wednesday's contest with a 5-2-1 record so far in 2025, as they are coming off a 2-1 loss to Arizona State to open Big 12 play on Sept. 18. Ellie Walbruch leads BYU's offense this season with four goals and eight points. In goal, Paiton Collins has registered 26 saves on the year.
