MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia cross country team opened its season at the Lehigh Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29, finishing second in the team standings.
Freshman
Aislinn Frazer led the way for the Mountaineers, crossing the line in sixth overall with a time of 22:03. Frazer was followed closely by redshirt senior
Tatiana Moura, who finished seventh with a time of 22:07.4, while junior
Eva Rinker and
Audrey Hall and redshirt sophomore
Mary Delaney rounded out the top-five scoring for WVU.
"We got a lot out of this trip to Lehigh. As with most races we had some very good performances and some that needed a little work," said Head Coach
Sean Cleary. "The group that we raced today did a wonderful job representing themselves and WVU. The next time we race at Lehigh it will be at the NCAA Regionals, we will be better prepared because of this race."
West Virginia will be back in action in Clinton, Pa. at the RMU Colonial Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12.
