MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Graduate student
Sarah Tait of the West Virginia University track and field team booked her trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships after winning the third heat of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday at the NCAA East First Rounds.
Tait punched her ticket to the championships with a time of 9:42.14, finishing third overall in the event inside Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
In the high jump, redshirt sophomore
Annishka McDonald tied for 38
th overall, jumping for 1.69 meters.
Additionally, redshirt junior
Emily Bryce and freshman
Naomi Kemboi finished 31
st and 37
th in the 5,000 meters, respectively. Bryce notched a time of 16:04.30 in the event, while Kemboi finished in 16:17.20.
Next, West Virginia will send Tait and freshman
Joy Naukot to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 11-14. This year's national championship will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
