
WVU Hosts Stan Romanoski Open on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team hosts its third home meet of the season on Saturday with the Stan Romanoski Open at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Saturday's meet is scheduled to begin with the men and women's hammer throw at 11 a.m. ET, and will conclude with the mixed 3,000 meters at approximately 7:15 p.m.

West Virginia is slated to compete in the women's 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 1,500 meters, mixed 3,000 meters, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000 meters as well as the high jump and long jump.
Freshman Joy Naukot ranks No. 7 nationally in the 10,000 meters, while leading the Mid-Atlantic region and Big 12 conference in the event. Graduate student Sarah Tait ranks nationally in multiple events, including No. 7 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, No. 26 in the 5,000 meters and No. 28 in the 1,500 meters.
Additionally, freshman Naomi Kemboi is ranked No. 24 in the nation in the 5,000 meters while redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald ranks No. 39 in the high jump.
Last time out, West Virginia raced at the Penn Relays on April 24 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Naukot paced the Mountaineers, notching a time of 15:49.37 in her collegiate debut of the women's 5,000 meters. The time was good enough to mark the freshman as No. 4 on the all-time outdoor list.
