MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team will travel to Lawrence, Kansas for the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 15-17. This year's conference championship will be hosted by Kansas at Rock Chalk Park.

The Big 12 Outdoor Championship kicks off on Thursday, at approximately 12:30 p.m. ET, with the men's decathlon.

On Thursday, West Virginia is slated to compete in the women's heptathlon, the first round of the 1,500 meters and 400-meter hurdles as well as the 10,000 meters. On Friday, the Mountaineers begin with the heptathlon once again, followed by the long jump, first round of the 800 meters and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. WVU concludes competition on Saturday with the high jump, 5,000 meters and the 4x400 meter relay.

Freshman Joy Naukot ranks No. 7 nationally in the 10,000 meters, as well as No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic region and No. 1 in the Big 12 conference. Graduate student Sarah Tait checks in at No. 7 nationally in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as well as No. 28 in the 5,000 meters and No. 34 in the 1,500 meters.

Additionally, freshman Naomi Kemboi ranks No. 26 nationally in the 5,000 meters while redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald checks in at No. 46 in the high jump.

Last time out, the Mountaineers hosted the WVU Last Chance Meet on May 10, concluding the regular season. West Virginia's performance was highlighted by clean sweeps in both the women's 1,500 meters and the 100 meters.
