
West Virginia Claims Multiple Event Wins at Mountaineer Twilight

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team took home multiple event wins at the Mountaineer Twilight on April 19 at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The first win of the day came from redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress, who posted a time of 15.20 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the 400 meters, sophomore Cate Pickering took home first after crossing the finish line in 1:00.06. Sophomore Izayah Everett and junior Sierra Heisey clinched first and second place in the 100 meters, with times of 12.48 and 13.10, respectively.
Cress took home her second win of the day in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:02.30. West Virginia went on to sweep the 200 meters, with Everett, Pickering and Heisey taking first, second and third place.
In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Eva Rinker took first after posting a time of 4:46.85. Redshirt sophomore Audrey Hall and redshirt junior Zara Zervos finished in second and third place, with times of 4:47.98 and 4:51.09, respectively. Freshman Jennifer O'Palko took sixth with a personal best time of 4:56.08 while redshirt junior Aubrie Custer finished seventh with a season best of 4:56.19.
In the field, redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald claimed first place in the high jump at 1.66 meters. While freshman Sabria Jones took the long jump after leaping 5.64 meters.
Next, the Mountaineers will travel to the Penn Relays on April 24-26. The relays will be held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
