MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team continues postseason competition at the 2025 NCAA Pennsylvania Regional Championships in University Park, Pa., from April 2-5. WVU will compete in the First Round against Maryland on Wednesday, April 2, at 2 p.m. ET inside Penn State's Rec Hall.

If the Mountaineers top the Terrapins in the play-in meet, they will advance to the Second Round, taking on LSU, Arkansas and Michigan in a quad meet on Thursday, April 3 at 7 p.m. If WVU does not advance, senior

West Virginia and Maryland are set to compete for the first time since Jan. 13, 2023, with the Terrapins earning a 195.425-195.1 victory in Morgantown. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series, 40-19-1.
WVU's NCAA Regionals bid marks the 44th regional championships berth for the Mountaineers, their 39th in NCAA competition, and the team's ninth qualification in the last 10 years. West Virginia has advanced to the NCAA National Championships three times since 1983. The Mountaineers' last NCAA National Championships berth came in 2000, when Hall of Fame coach Linda Burdette-Good led WVU to a 12th-place finish with a 194.175 total. WVU last qualified an individual to the national championships in 2017.
Last time out, West Virginia opened the postseason at the 2025 Big 12 Championship on March 22 in West Valley City, Utah. The Mountaineers finished in seventh place with a team score of 194.875. WVU tallied scores of 48.675 on vault, 48.125 on the uneven bars, 48.975 on balance beam and 49.1 on floor exercise. The meet was highlighted by Rice's runner-up finish on floor exercise after scoring a career-best 9.9. Rice was named to the Big 12 All-Championship Team on floor with the finish, marking WVU's first floor honoree at the championship since 2017 and just the third all-time. The Morgantown, West Virginia, native moved WVU's total number of All-Championship Team honorees to 12 all-time.
In this week's Road to Nationals rankings, West Virginia maintained its position in the top 36, ranking No. 36 nationally with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.855. After posting a trio of 196.0+ scores across the last five meets, WVU's NQS improved by more than a full point to catapult the Mountaineers into the postseason. Of note, the top 36 teams in the Road to Nationals rankings qualified for NCAA Regionals, which was announced on March 24. WVU ranks No. 35 on vault, No. 47 on bars, No. 34 on beam and No. 33 on floor.
Leading WVU's individual rankings is senior
Anna Leigh, who ranks No. 43 nationally, No. 4 in the Big 12 and No. 8 in the southeast region on floor exercise with an NQS of 9.905. Leigh's season high on floor is a 9.95, while she has scored a 9.9+ five times this year. DiCello ranks No. 12 in the conference and No. 16 in the region on vault with a 9.84 NQS, while she also is No. 14 in the league and No. 17 in the region on beam (9.85 NQS). Rice also ranks No. 14 in the Big 12 and No. 18 regionally with a 9.835 NQS on vault. On beam, sophomore
Julia Brown ranks No. 21 in the conference and No. 20 regionally, boasting a 9.83 NQS.
