
Mountaineers Conclude Split Weekend of Competition on Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team concluded a split weekend of competition at the Marty Pushkin Invitational and USF Alumni Invitational on Saturday in Morgantown, West Virginia and Tampa, Florida.
In Morgantown, sophomore Eva Rinker highlighted the meet as she took first place in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:18.37. Additionally, redshirt junior Zara Zervos took second in the 1,500-meter steeplechase with a time of 5:24.97.
In the 400 meters, sophomore Cate Pickering took second place after posting a time of 59.81 seconds. Additionally, sophomore Mae Nelson and junior Sierra Heisey finished in fourth and fifth place with times of 1:01.31 and 1:01.36, respectively.
In Tampa, redshirt sophomore Annishka McDonald tied for third on the all-time list after finishing at a career best height of 1.78 meters in the high jump.
In the 400 meters, sophomore Lily Haught crossed the finish line with a time of 55.39. Classmate Izayah Everett finished behind in 59.18.
Next, the Mountaineers will travel to the Raleigh Relays on March 27-29. The relays will be held at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility in Raleigh, North Carolina.
