MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt sophomore
Annishka McDonald of the West Virginia University track and field team clinched first place in the women's high jump on Saturday at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge in University Park, Pennsylvania.
McDonald claimed the gold medal after tying her personal best mark at 1.74 meters, inside of the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
Additionally in the field, freshman
Sabria Jones finished fourth in the long jump, leaping for a personal best length of 5.65 meters.
In the 200 meters, sophomore
Izayah Everett claimed fourth place as well, earning a personal best time of 24.83.
Sophomore Tecla Lockrale added the third fourth place finish of the day, boasting a time of 4:47.09 in her collegiate debut of the mile. While classmate
Eva Rinker collected her first sub-five minute mile, earning a career best time of 4:55.03.
In the 800 meters, sophomore
Mary Delaney claimed a fifth-place finish, while running for a 2:15.31.
Additionally, redshirt sophomore
Olivia Cress added a personal best time in the 60-meter hurdle prelims, notching a 9.05 finish.
Redshirt senior
Abbey Yuhasz collected yet another personal best for the Mountaineers, as she crossed in the finish line in 10:08.53 in the 3,000 meters.
Next, West Virginia will send split squads to Boston, Massachusetts and Youngstown, Ohio on Feb. 14-15. The Mountaineers will compete at the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday, inside of the Watson and Tressel Training Site in Youngstown. WVU will then send split squads to Boston for the Eagle Invite on Friday and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Saturday.
