Mountaineers Travel to Lubbock for Big 12 Indoor Championships

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team kicks off the postseason on Feb. 28 – March 1 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships. This year's conference championship will be hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Friday and Saturday's competition is scheduled to begin approximately at 11 a.m. ET.
The league championships can be viewed lived on ESPN+, while live results can be found at WVUsports.com.
On Friday, West Virginia is slated to face off in the women's pentathlon, mile first round, 400 meters, 1,000 meters, 200 meters, 5,000 meters, distance medley relay and the long jump.
The Mountaineers will then continue competition on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
Graduate student Ceili McCabe looks to add another medal to her collection after finishing third in the mile at the 2024 Big 12 Indoor Championships with a time of 4:38.57. Additionally, McCabe aided in WVU's DMR conference win, as the team of McCabe, classmate Sarah Tait, sophomore Kishay Rowe and alumna Mikenna Vanderheyden crossed the finish line in 11:18.08.
West Virginia's DMR win marked the first Big 12 conference indoor title for the Mountaineers since 2021.
Last time out, the Mountaineers competed at the Penn State Tune-Up on Feb. 21 in University Park, Pennsylvania. The meet was highlighted by redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress who earned a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a personal best time of 8.84 seconds.
