PROVO, Utah – The West Virginia University gymnastics team reached a season-high road score in a Big 12 Conference dual meet at BYU, finishing second to the Cougars inside the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, on Friday night.

The Mountaineers secured a 195.0 team score to reach their first score of 195.0 or higher on the road this season. It also marked their second 195.0+ score of the year. WVU tallied scores of 48.875 on vault, 48.475 on the uneven bars, 48.55 on balance beam and 49.1 on floor exercise. BYU scored a 195.675 to finish in first place, ahead of West Virginia in second.

WVU opened the meet on bars, as senior Brooke Alban led the way with a season-high matching 9.8. Classmate Anna Leigh followed with a 9.725, while fifth-year senior Trinity Macy scored a 9.7. Sophomores Amber Lowe and Jayden McDonnell capped the scoring with a 9.65 and 9.6, respectively.

Moving to vault, a pair of career-high scores for junior Carlee Nelson and freshman Emerson Smith highlighted the second rotation. Smith scored a 9.825, while Nelson reached a 9.8. Alban and freshman Taylor Tuohy added matching 9.775's, which matched Tuohy's career best. Freshman Karleigh DiCello added a 9.7 to round out an impressive vault rotation for the Mountaineers.

The West Virginia floor lineup shined as usual in the third rotation, with Leigh once again leading the way with a 9.925, her third 9.9+ score on the event this season. Lowe scored a 9.85, just shy of her career high, while freshman Riley Maness tallied her third straight 9.8. Tuohy scored a career-best 9.775, while Smith recorded a 9.75 to help the Mountaineers hit its second 49.0+ floor total of the season.

Finishing on beam, sophomore Kaylei Adams paced the rotation with a 9.8, while DiCello was just behind her with a 9.775. Leigh tallied a 9.75, while scores of 9.675 from sophomore Julia Brown and 9.55 from Lowe rounded out the meet for West Virginia.

In the final event rankings, Smith tied for third place on vault, Alban tied for third on bars and Adams finished in a tie for third on beam. Leigh took home the top spot on floor, her second event win on floor this season.

Up next, WVU returns to the west coast to compete at Arizona State for the first time as Big 12 Conference opponents. Competition inside ASU's Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona, is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
