MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team returns to the road for a Big 12 Conference matchup at BYU on Friday, Feb. 14. Competition inside the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, is tabbed for 9 p.m. ET.
 
The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN+, while live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
 
BYU holds a 3-0 record over the Mountaineers in the all-time series, while Friday's meet marks the second consecutive season WVU has traveled to Provo for a dual meet against the Cougars. Additionally, the matchup on Friday marks the first of two scheduled competitions between the Mountaineers and Cougars this season. The two teams will face one another in the 2025 Big 12 Championship, hosted in West Valley City, Utah, for the first time.
 
WVU and BYU last met in the 2024 Big 12 Championship, hosted by 2024 conference champions Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. The Cougars took third place with a 197.05 team total, while the Mountaineers finished in fifth with a 195.125. The two teams also faced off last year in Provo on Feb. 2, in their first meet as Big 12 foes. BYU grabbed the win in last year's meeting, topping West Virginia 196.475-193.4.
 
BYU enters Friday's competition with a 2-10 overall record and an 0-3 mark in the Big 12 in 2025. The Cougars are coming off a 195.825-196.625 loss at No. 21 Denver on Feb. 8.
 
Last time out, WVU dropped a dual meet against Big 12 Conference foe Iowa State, 195.375-194.175, in Morgantown on Feb. 9. The Mountaineers tallied scores of 48.9 on vault, 47.925 on the uneven bars, 48.425 on balance beam and 48.925 on floor exercise. In the final event standings, freshman Karleigh DiCello finished in first place on vault with a career-best 9.85, followed by classmate Sophia Rice in third with a 9.8. Sophomore Julia Brown tied for third place on beam (9.775), while senior Anna Leigh placed second (9.85) and freshman Emerson Smith (9.825) tied for third on floor.
 
In this week's Road to Nationals rankings, the Mountaineers rank No. 52 overall in the sixth week of rankings for the 2025 season. Their highest event ranking is on floor, where they sit No. 37 with a season average of 48.892 on the event. Additionally, West Virginia is No. 6 in the Big 12 and No. 8 in the southeast region on floor. Individually, Brown ranks No. 16 in the Big 12 and No. 23 in the southeast region on beam, while fifth-year senior Trinity Macy ranks No. 25 in the league and No. 28 in the region on bars.
