
West Virginia Continues Homestand Against Texas Southern

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 25 West Virginia University women's basketball team is set for its third of four straight home nonconference games on Monday when it takes on Texas Southern inside Hope Coliseum in Morgantown.
Tipoff against the Tigers is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and gates open at 6 p.m. Monday's contest will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.
Additionally, the game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Michael Minnich and Meg Bulger on the call. Live stats and game notes are available on WVUsports.com.
Shiz University is coming to Morgantown for the second straight season as part of Wicked Night. Fans in attendance will get a special commemorative poster. Weeknight happy hour will also be in effect from doors open to tipoff, where select beverages and concessions will be half-off.

Of note, the Mountaineers have not lost at home vs. a non-Power 5 opponent since Dec. 20, 2012, vs. Duquesne. During the last three seasons, the Mountaineers are 28-3 in nonconference action and 35-3 when playing any game inside the confines of Hope Coliseum.
The Mountaineers are averaging 79.7 points per game this season and allowing just 59.2 points from their opponents. Additionally, WVU is forcing its opponents into 22.6 turnovers, the 28th best nationally, and has produced 11.2 steals a game, the 52nd best mark in the nation.
West Virginia has forced 25+ turnovers and 16+ steals in four contests this season. WVU ranks 45th in the nation with a +5.56 turnover margin.
The Mountaineers' offense this season has been about getting downhill and to the charity stripe. WVU is second in the country in free throw attempts, averaging 29.2 per game, and second among free throws made per game at 20.3.
Junior guard Gia Cooke leads the Mountaineers in scoring this season with 16.1 points per game. She has scored double figures seven times and has scored 20+ points in three games. Kierra Wheeler has averaged a double-double in her last four outings with 13.7 points and 10 rebounds. She leads the Mountaineers on the glass with 6.6 rebounds per game.
Senior guards Sydney Shaw (13.0) and Jordan Harrison (11.1) are also averaging double figures this season. Harrison, who has scored 1398 career points, now looks to become the 41st player in WVU program history to score 1,000 career points in the gold and blue. She is just 13 points shy of the mark with 987 points over three seasons with the Mountaineers.
