
Five Mountaineers Make Finals at 2025 USA Winter Air Gun Championship

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Members of the West Virginia University rifle team competed at the 2025 USA Winter Air Gun Championships over the weekend.
The Mountaineers had five head to the finals at the event, and West Virginia hit the podium four times in the open and junior divisions at both the Camp Perry and Colorado Springs events. West Virginia swept the men's junior finals podium after Griffin Lake, Jacob Wisman and Jack Ogoreuc took the top three spots.
Junior Griffin Lake turned in the best finish for WVU, finishing in second place in the open final and first as a junior. He qualified for the medal matches in third place with a 1255.0.
On the women's side of action, sophomore Camryn Camp turned in a seventh-place finish in the open division and fourth place as a junior. She hit the top qualifying score of 1256.2. Sophomore Jennifer Kocher turned in the second-best qualifying mark with a 1253.9 but was unable to compete in the final.
Sophomore Jacob Wisman finished in seventh place in the open final before taking second in juniors. He qualified with the sixth-best score in the field. Freshman Jack Ogoreuc took third place in the junior final and posted the top mark in the U18 division with a score of 1244.1. His qualifying mark was the 13th best in the event.
Senior Maximus Duncan competed in the Colorado Springs portion of the event. His 1143.7 qualifying mark was the second-best in the field. During the open finals, he finished in seventh place.
