
West Virginia Opens Four Game Homestand Against Villanova

MORGANTOWN, W.Va – The No. 21 West Virginia University women's basketball team returns home for its first of four games inside Hope Coliseum on Monday, Dec. 1, when the Mountaineers welcome Villanova to Morgantown.
Tipoff against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and gates open at 6 p.m. Monday's contest will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.
Additionally, the game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Alex Wiederspiel and Meg Bulger on the call. Live stats and game notes are available on WVUsports.com.
The game is scheduled as Space Jam Night inside the Coliseum. Fans will receive free light sticks to help light up the arena and create an out-of-this-world atmosphere as the Mountaineers take the court.
West Virginia (6-1, 0-0 Big 12) and Villanova (5-2, 0-0 Big East) meet for the 31st time in program history. West Virginia is 12-18 all-time against the Wildcats, including a 10-6 mark at home. As former members of the Big East, the pair met regularly from late 1990 through 2012. The latest meeting came during the 2019 season when WVU defeated Villanova, 64-57.
Of note, the Mountaineers have not lost at home vs. a non-Power 5 opponent since Dec. 20, 2012, vs. Duquesne. WVU is riding a 21-game home win streak, now spanning three seasons. Additionally, the Mountaineers have won 39 straight non-conference regular season contests inside the WVU Coliseum dating back to the 2018-19 season.
During the last three seasons, the Mountaineers are 27-2 in nonconference action and 34-2 when playing any game inside the confines of Hope Coliseum.
The Mountaineers are averaging 80.1 points per game to open the season and allow just 57.3 points from their opponents. Additionally, WVU is forcing its opponents into 23.5 turnovers, the 25th best nationally, and has produced 11.4 steals a game, the 59th best mark in the nation.
