
Mountaineers Set for Mid-Atlantic Regional

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team will compete at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 14. This year's championship race will be hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The women's 6k is scheduled to begin at noon.

West Virginia will face off against 30 scoring teams, including No. 10 Penn State, No. 12 Georgetown and No. 19 Villanova
Last time out, the Mountaineers finished in third place at the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 31 in Lawrence, Kan. with 86 total team points. Sophomore Joy Naukot finished second overall with a time of 19:14.3 to earn All-Big 12 honors for the second consecutive season.
Redshirt sophomore Mercy Kinyanjui placed eighth (19:46.0), while redshirt senior Emily Bryce finished 15th (19:57.9) to give the Mountaineers three runners on the All-Big 12 Team.
West Virginia checks in at No. 7 in the NCAA DI Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll, after the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the rankings on Nov. 4. The Mountaineers also came in at No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings.
