MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia sophomore
Joy Naukot has been named the Big 12 Women's Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Naukot earns the honor following a record-breaking performance at the Swags Louisville Classic, where she broke both the meet and school records in the women's 5k. The Kapenguria, Kenya native clocked a time of 15:48.9 surpassing the previous WVU record of 16:06 set last season. Naukot finished third to lead the Mountaineers to a first-place finish with 34 team points.
West Virginia returns to action on Saturday Oct. 11, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Clinton, Pennsylvania.
